Insurance roofing

A written roof inspection you can send to your insurance carrier.

Photographs of every slope, a signed finding from a licensed contractor, and an honest estimate of how much life your roof has left.

The written finding

Documentation your insurance company can use.

When a carrier asks about your roof, the answer is usually a document. We inspect the roof, photograph every slope and give you a written, dated finding signed by a licensed contractor.

You decide who receives it. We can send it to your insurance company or agent at your direction, and we keep a copy so you never have to hunt for it again.

When this helps

Common situations.

A non-renewal or age letter

Your carrier says the roof is too old or asks for proof of its condition. A written finding with photographs and an estimate of remaining life gives you something concrete to send back.

A policy renewal

You want a baseline on file before renewal, so a question from your carrier does not become a scramble.

After a storm or an incident

Call your insurance company first. We can then document the roof’s condition with photographs and a written finding.

How it works

Four steps.

  1. 1

    Send us the letter

If your carrier sent a letter or request, keep it handy. It tells us what they are asking for.

  2. 2

    We inspect

About ninety minutes on site. We check the field, flashing, vents, valleys and the decking underfoot, and photograph everything.

  3. 3

    You get the finding

A numbered, dated, signed written finding with photographs and an estimate of remaining useful life. It says repair, replace or sound.

  4. 4

You send it, or we do

You decide who receives it. Your carrier makes the decision about your policy.

What we do not do

  • We are not public adjusters, and we do not negotiate your claim with your insurance company.
  • We do not tell you what your policy covers or how to file a claim. Your insurance company or agent can.
  • We do not offer to waive, rebate or absorb your insurance deductible.
  • We do not promise how your carrier will respond. Your carrier’s rules govern your policy.

Questions

Mostly about insurance.

My carrier says my roof is too old. Do I have to replace it?

Not always. Florida law gives homeowners a path to supply an inspection showing remaining useful life instead of replacing, and licensed roofing contractors can perform that inspection. Whether it satisfies your particular carrier depends on your policy and their rules, which is why the finding is written, dated and photographed. Bring us the letter and we will read it with you.

Is the inspection really free?

Yes, with no obligation. We now have a dated file on your roof, and if it reaches the end of its life, we would like you to call us.

Will you pressure me to sign something that day?

No. The inspector looks and writes down what they saw. If the finding says replace, you get the scope and photographs. If you are ready to move ahead, we can go over your options right away. If you would rather take your time, take it, and feel free to get other bids.

Will my insurance company accept the finding?

We cannot promise that. Each carrier sets its own rules. We make sure the finding is complete, dated and photographed so it is as useful as it can be.

Do you work with my insurance company directly?

We can send your finding to your carrier or agent at your direction. We do not handle or negotiate your claim.
